Global Data Privacy Day

We are excited to celebrate Global Data Privacy Day on January 28, 2025. This important day is about raising awareness and promoting the importance of protecting our personal data. Join us in encouraging the best practices for data privacy!

A Brief History of Data Privacy Day

The origins of Data Privacy Day date back to 2006 when the Committee of the Council of Europe decided to designate January 28th as Data Protection Day. This date was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the opening and signing of the Council of Europe’s Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection, in 1981.

Then, in 2009, the United States House of Representatives declared January 28th as National Data Privacy Day. Since then, the day has been recognized and celebrated by various organizations, governments, and privacy professionals around the world.

Why is Data Privacy Important?

In our increasingly digital world, the line between our offline and online lives continues to blur. Data Privacy Day serves as a reminder to make safeguarding our personal data a priority.
